Submit a case study!

Thank you very much for agreeing to share your experiences with others!

Your contribution to the transfer of knowledge will help develop a broad basis of e-business expertise. And we hope that you will soon reap benefits through your customers and partners, too – because we can optionally link your company logo free of charge and your contact e-mail address. At all events, a case study published in eXperience is proof of competence! They are recorded as exemplary in a certain application, and there’s always a chance that the ICT media will take up your case, too. What’s more, the platform is run by universities, meaning that your next generation of management are already doing research in eXperience today.

How to proceed:

  • Familiarise yourself with our standards.
  • Compile your project and save it as a file.
  • Before we can register it, you need to enter some details in a form and upload the files containing your case study, images and, if desired, company logos.
  • The eXperience editorial staff will send you feedback on your case study.
  • Once no more changes are needed, we will store and publish you case study in eXperience. Subsequent changes and updates are always possible.

Information in detail

Standards
Since time is precious for all of us, we pay careful attention to quality. We seek to avoid superficiality and dislike pithy advertising claims. The editorial staff of FHNW keeps an eye on content quality.

How to spot the perfect case study:
  • It describes a genuine hands-on case and names the operator and its partners.
  • It has one or several focuses. You should describe them as precisely as possible. There should only be as much detail that the focus and its context is still recognisable.
  • It is written in a factual manner and does not contain propaganda or disparagements.
  • It contains supporting illustrations and a management summary.
  • It includes the URL to the solution and, optionally, a demo account.
  • The author grants eXperience the right to publish in online and offline media.
The editorial staff works with a scoring model for all incoming case studies. It provides the authors with feedback and sometimes recommendations on how they can further improve the case study. Case studies that do not meet the minimum standards are not published.

Files
You can make our work much easier! So that we can publish your study on eXperience as efficiently as possible, we ask you to send it electronically by data upload while sticking to the following recommendations as closely as possible. If you are not familiar with the data formats, just send us what you have and we’ll send you feedback telling you how to proceed.

The ideal text file for your case study will be:
  • saved in Microsoft Word for Windows (DOC), in RTF or TXT format.
  • the text contains images or their positions for insertion are marked in the text.

Please submit images accompanying the text in the following formats
  • all images in a Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows (PPT) file or
  • all individual images in a ZIP file together, with each image in JPG or GIF format. The ideal resolution is 72 dpi.

If you don’t know how to join several files in a ZIP file, simply send us the images as a data attachment in an e-mail to info@experience-online.ch quoting the name of the case study. You can send us the logos of participating firms in JPG or GIF format, but they may not exceed the banner format of 234 x 60 pixels.

Let’s go!
Once you have all the

  1. General particulars of the case study
  2. Enter information on authors
  3. Enter information on operators
  4. Enter information on solution partners
  5. Upload the case study files
  6. Transfer of publication rights to eXperience
  7. Complete and submit the case study
Save your submission by clicking on “Continue”. You can go back and make changes at any time. Now you can send the text and image files by file upload (Step 5). If you encounter any problems, skip this step and send us an e-mail with the edited files to info@experience-online.ch (quoting the name of the case study). Editorial Staff
Organisation is half the work! The editors’ responsibility is to ensure that case studies are cross-referenced by keywords and categorised so that you can make targeted searches and quickly find the relevant sections within a case study. In addition, they coach authors with the aim of creating high-quality case studies as efficiently as possible. And if there is no other way, they remain firm and insist that quality standards are kept to.

To help you search efficiently:
  • keywords are highlighted at the relevant places in the text and cross-referenced in the table of contents
  • standard categories are applied to area of use, focus, scope and industry.
  • a profile of each case study is created with meta-information, a management summary and indexes of contents and keywords.
Editorial work is time-intensive and we want to do it well. Please therefore appreciate that our answers and publications may take up to several days to produce.

Publication Rights
eXperience’s raison d’être is to disseminate knowledge and publicising people with specific knowledge. This is only possible if you as the author grant publication rights to the case study and accompanying material. That explains why, once you’ve input a case study, you’ll be asked to agree to the following undertaking and the transfer of title by marking the corresponding button:
  • As author, you grant eXperience the non-exclusive right to publish and disseminate both online and offline the entire contents of the case study and details of participating persons and organisations. You declare that your consent does not infringe on the rights of third parties and that you have the agreement of all affected persons and organisations.
  • You consent to eXperience passing on the publication rights to its partners. This disclosure is intended for the purposes of training and sharing knowledge as well as to publicise and promote eXperience.
  • The author’s consent grants publication rights for this case study to the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) and to FHNW. FHNW has been commissioned by Seco with the sole discharge of duties and as the legitimate representative of eXperience.
Its editorial work means that FHNW acquires the copyright to the published contents. In return, FHNW grants the author the non-exclusive right to evaluate the case study and those parts added by FHNW.

The transfer of publication rights to partners is made at FHNW’s discretion and, in individual cases, coordinated with the authors.

The rights to publication cannot be revoked. However, the FHNW will agree to block access to the online platform and grant no new publication rights for offline media on receipt of a registered letter requesting this to the address below. Publication projects or agreements reached or planned before receipt of this request cannot be reneged on.

Confidential Information
Many e-business projects contain confidential information (e.g. security concepts). When producing these case studies, it must be ensured that confidential information does not enter the public domain. We offer you tailored publication of your case study on eXperience. We clarify the following points with you before preparing the case study:
  • Which information may be used for a case study?
  • Which information is explicitly not for publication?
  • Which information may only be used anonymously? (e.g. company X instead of its plain name)
The eXperience editorial staff provides you with personal support in preparing your case study. Please contact us.
